Project update
Construction works continue to progress on site. Key milestones achieved to date include:
- Demolition and removal of the existing track.
- Completion of bulk earthworks and surface shaping.
- Installation of underground services trenches.
- Installation of new stormwater pits and pipework. In addition, stormwater design improvements have been implemented in response to real‑time rainfall observations, enhancing the long‑term drainage performance and resilience of the site.
- Drainage works are nearing completion, with civil works overall well advanced.
The impact of rainfall events during February and March 2026 has delayed some construction activities, which has impacted the program of works. Project handover and completion is now forecast to occur in early quarter 4, 2026.
The project team is actively managing the impact of these delays and implementing measures to recover time, where possible.
Planned future activities include:
- Completion of remaining drainage and civil works.
- Finalisation of installation methodology and schedule for the synthetic track surface.
- Implementing program recovery measures, including extended working hours and additional resources, where appropriate.
- Progressing additional scope works in parallel, where feasible.
The Office of Sport will continue to work closely with the contractor to progress activities safely and efficiently with further updates to be provided as milestones are achieved.
