About the project

The NSW Government has committed $6.7 million for the development of a new synthetic athletics track at Sydney Academy of Sport, Narrabeen. The project will support users from grassroots to elite across a range of sports.
 

Scope

The project scope includes:  

  • A new World Athletics (WA) compliant synthetic athletics track with moisture resilient track surface  
  • New asphalt sub-base  
  • Drainage and stormwater system upgrades   
  • Accessibility improvements   
Latest News
  • The main works construction tender assessment is complete with experienced head contractors CC Pines Pty. Ltd. appointed to lead the delivery of the project with the support of specialist synthetic sports surface consultants Polytan.
  • Onsite works are scheduled to begin in mid-January 2026, following confirmation of the contractor’s construction timeline.
  • Access to the existing track, infield and amenities (including the grandstand) will close from 5pm, Sunday 18 January 2026, and will remain unavailable until construction is complete. Any changes to this timeline will be communicated promptly to all stakeholders.
