The Office of Sport has a long history in providing camps for young people with disability. From inclusive holiday camps that are part of our scheduled camp program to specially run weekends that are shared with siblings and carers, we give young people with disability the chance to experience traditional camp life. Families also get a much-needed break.
Our partnership with Ageing Disability and Home Care (ADHC), Department of Family and Community Services, has allowed us to deliver inclusive and rewarding camp experiences for teens with disability. It’s also given us the expertise to facilitate these camps with ease.
As we transition out of our formal arrangement, we remain committed to creating opportunities for young people with disability through stronger relationships with disability service providers.
Inclusive holiday camps
Young people with disability can experience all the fun and excitement of a holiday camp with the Office of Sport's inclusive holiday camps. Ten per cent of places at each holiday camp are reserved for young people with disability.
It’s easy for disability service providers to book:
- Visit the school holiday page
- Choose the camp you want and then contact our Client Service Centre on 13 13 02 to reserve your place
- Prior to camp our Program Coordinator will work with you to ensure the best camp experience for all.
Respite weekends for children and young people with disability, their siblings and carers
Families get a break with the Office of Sport's Respite Weekends. Designed for young people with disability, their siblings and carers, it delivers the best of camp life over a weekend.
Camp is an exciting experience on its own but when shared with siblings it creates life-long memories.
These incredibly popular programs can now be organised at any time. All you have to do is decide on the centre, and call to discuss dates. We recommend a group minimum of 30 participants and carers to make the most of the time at camp but you can talk to the Centre directly about your group.
Not just for children and young people
People of all ages have the best time when they come to camp, so talk to the Office of Sport about a group booking at one of our Sport and Recreation Centres.
