Move over Harry Potter - Quidditch has come to Berry

Have fun playing Quidditch at the Berry Sport and Recreation Centre Kids' Camp this school holiday - a great way to get the kids off the couch and active.

Centre Manager at Berry Sport and Recreation Centre Heidi Myers said with seven players a side, this version of Quidditch developed by Quidditch Australia is a cross between touch football, dodgeball and tag.

“We are very lucky to have Wollongong Wolves Quidditch Club on board to show us how it’s done. It’s the most fun you can have on a broom.

“Take the Quidditch challenge and throw the quaffle through the hoop while flying on our giant swing, search for the philosophers’ stone in our dark maze and participate in a Quidditch tournament.

Instead of flying, players run around with a broomstick between their legs, sprinting, dodging, throwing and chasing that all important golden snitch.

“The rules for us "muggles" — people with no magical abilities - have been adapted from those invented by author JK Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books.

“We want to give all of our budding young Harry Potter fans not only the opportunity to bring to life a game adapted from their beloved books, but also the opportunity to experience traditional camp activities. Kids’ Qudditch Camp at Berry Sport and Recreation is the best of both worlds, wizardry and muggle,” Ms Myers said.
