Western Sydney Marathon

The Western Sydney Marathon is one of NSW’s premier running events and is a celebration of healthy lifestyles, active communities and the outdoors!

Event update

The Western Sydney Marathon will not go ahead in 2025.

The Office of Sport recently met with key partners to discuss future opportunities to expand the event and to consider future dates that complement the State/National running calendar. The Office of Sport will investigate partnership opportunities as part of the vision to grow Western Sydney Marathon as a key event in Penrith for the future.

The Western Sydney Marathon is one of NSW’s premier running events and is a celebration of healthy lifestyles, active communities and the outdoors!

Held at the picturesque Sydney International Regatta Centre overlooking the scenic Penrith Lakes the course is fast and flat and circles the main lake, crosses an island bridge to the Regatta Centre and weaves along roads both inside, outside and around the Penrith Whitewater Stadium.

With five running events, including the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km Family Fun Run and a 2km Youth Dash, the Western Sydney Marathon attracts both entry level and experienced athletes whether it be international and national runners for the marathon, or those just getting into running who enjoy the shorter distances and just want a fun challenge amongst workmates and family!
