Roles at Penrith Whitewater Stadium
Our staff play a key role in creating fun, exciting, and unforgettable experiences for the people of NSW and beyond.
If you’re passionate about sport and active recreation—especially outdoor water sports—we offer a variety of opportunities for you to join our dynamic team.
Penrith Whitewater Stadium (PWS) is proudly managed by the Office of Sport, the NSW Government’s lead agency for sport and active recreation. Our vision is to create healthier people, connect communities, and build a stronger NSW.

Whitewater Safety Supervisor
Working at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium is easier than you think!
PWS requires qualified swiftwater rescuers to provide safety and rescue for a variety of whitewater activities.
Regular one-day courses in the qualifications below are offered at the Venue. Fees apply.
- PUASAR001 Perform land based swiftwater and floodwater rescue and recovery
- SISORSC005 Rescue others in white water
- Rescue 3 International – Water and flood awareness
To work as a whitewater safety supervisor at PWS, you will need to hold one of the above qualifications.

Kayak Instructor
PWS offers a range of kayak instruction programs from flatwater to whitewater. Our most regular form of instruction is on flatwater.
To become a flatwater kayak instructor at PWS you must be able to paddle a whitewater kayak proficiently on flatwater and grade 1 whitewater, with the ability to roll.
Learn to kayak by joining our 4-day Level 1 & 2 Quickstart course run over two weekends. The price is $900.00 per person.
Once you have these skills, you must then obtain the Paddle Australia Flatwater Instructor qualification to work at PWS.

Raft Guide
The most popular activity at PWS is whitewater rafting. Our whitewater rafting trips require qualified raft guides to lead a crew of up to 8 people down our grade 3 whitewater channel.
Learn to be a raft guide by completing a 6-day Raft Guide course at PWS.
If deemed competent, you will be provided with the following qualifications:
- SISORAF002 Guide a raft on grade 3 rivers
- SISORAF005 Lead rafting activities on grade 3 rivers
- SISORSC004 Self rescue in white water
