Sydney International Regatta Centre is one of Australia’s premier sporting and festival events destinations. Our world-class facilities are home to national and international regattas, sporting events, triathlons, trade shows and community festivals.

Purpose-built for the 2000 Sydney Olympics and Paralympics, and set on 178 hectares of native bush and parklands surrounded by Penrith Lakes, the Sydney International Regatta Centre is a unique location with a vast range of event facilities.

Regattas 

Competition lake

Ranked one of the top rowing and sprint canoe/kayak courses in the world, the Competition Lake at Sydney International Regatta Centre is ideal for regattas and offers competitors fair competition with minimal crosswind.

Features

  • 2,300-metre length
  • Nine, 13.5-metre wide lanes for rowing, canoeing and kayaking
  • Consistent five-metre depth
  • Rock-coated, wave-absorbing banks
  • Surrounding native trees designed to limit cross winds.

Warm-up Lake

Our 1500-metre Warm-Up Lake gives competitors the chance to train while a race is in progress and a place to cool down after an event, ensuring minimal delays between races. It’s also available for open water swim competitions.

Towers, timing huts and pavilion

Event officials, timing judges and commentators get a front-row seat at the Sydney International Regatta Centre. Our start and finish towers and timing huts provide a birds-eye view of competitions and feature a precision timing and photo finish system. 

Our spectator pavilion has views of the Competition Lake and seats 1000 people.

Sporting events

The Sydney International Regatta Centre is an ideal venue for rowing, sprint kayaking, canoeing, sailing, swimming, cycling, running, triathlon and cross country events.

Sydney International Regatta Centre is well-equipped to host large scale outdoor events with its vast range of facilities, open green field, hard stand, on water spaces and experienced event management team.

  • A large island with limited noise restrictions
  • Island capacity of 20,000 (depending on overlay)
  • Whole of venue capacity of 30,000
  • Caterer with Liquor license to coordinate food stalls, food vans, kiosk and bars
  • Parking for 2,000 vehicles and coach and shuttle set-down and pick-up stations
  • Internal roadways and front and back of house vehicle entry/exit points
  • Multiple conference rooms with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment
  • Spectator pavilion with 1,000 seat capacity
  • Outdoor and undercover exhibition areas
  • Village green and a range of large outdoor spaces
  • Multiple amenities blocks some with hot showers and change rooms
  • 2300m competition lake and 1500m warm up lake
