The Adventurous Journey (AJ) section offers transformative experiences that foster teamwork, resilience, and personal growth. Young people develop strength, determination, and a lifelong commitment to achieving their goals.

Self-Guided Journeys – Broken Bay facility hire 

Our newest offering for Adventurous Journey has been exclusively designed by the Duke of Ed NSW Team in collaboration with the experienced staff at Broken Bay. Our self-guided AJ experiences offer access to one of NSW’s most breathtaking and unique locations—complete with all the elements of a traditional AJ.

Broken Bay Sport and Recreation Centre is perfectly situated just an hour from both Sydney Metro and the Hunter Region. Nestled within 650 hectares of pristine bushland, the centre is framed by secluded headlands and stunning beaches. Enjoy panoramic views of the iconic Barrenjoey Lighthouse, Lion Island, and the dramatic sandstone cliffs of the Hawkesbury River.

The site is rich in native wildlife and features Gold, Silver, and Bronze bushwalking tracks, campsites, beaches, water access, and hidden gems waiting to be discovered. It’s the ideal setting for young people to challenge themselves, connect with nature, and create unforgettable memories.

Included in the facility hire is a full kit of equipment that will get you started on your journey.

Coming Soon! – Align your Adventurous Journey with an Outdoor Education Program

The Office of Sport has 10 Sport and Recreation Centres in NSW. From the serene beauty of the Hawkesbury River and Lake Macquarie, to the beachy vibe of Lake Ainsworth, alpine country of Jindabyne and pastoral quiet of Borambola, Lake Burrendong and Lake Keepit, each Centre takes advantage of the unique features of their location.

Whether you're looking for a camp experience for your Outdoor Education Program or want to bring your Whole of Year 9 cohort we have the facilities and activities to create an unforgettable Adventurous Journey! With some slight adjustments, our programs can include activities that meet the Duke of Ed Adventurous Journey requirements.
