With state-of-the-art facilities, supervised activities, and exceptional staff and service at 10 Sport and Recreational Centres throughout NSW, you can be sure of a successful community group event.
From sport and music groups to sailing regattas, charity days and family reunions our Sport and Recreation Centres can deliver a unique experience.
Health and safety
Every effort is made to ensure your safety and comfort while at camp. Participation in activities requires listening and following safety instructions, and failure to follow instructions may result in non participation. Examples of how safety is incorporated into our programs:
- Our SunSmart strategy promotes wearing broad-brimmed hats and sunscreen
- Personal flotation devices while participating in aquatic activities
- Covered shoes must be worn when participating in all activities
Safety equipment is compulsory for participation in activities.
The maximum group size for activities is 32 participants for each instructor.
Parents/guardians are asked to be aware of their children at all times and to ensure they are supervised by a responsible adult when using the pool.
Centre staff hold first aid accreditation and can administer first aid for minor injuries or illness. If you require professional medical assistance, staff can direct you to the nearest medical centre or hospital.
If you or a family member have a pre-existing condition, allergy, special dietary needs or is taking prescription medicine, please ensure you have provided full details when completing the online registration form. Contact your group organiser for further information on registration forms.
Medication at camp
If you or a family member are taking medication, please bring enough for the duration of the stay.
If you or a family member suffers from anaphylaxis, please provide your anaphylaxis action plan, which has been prepared by your/their doctor, at the time of registration. Download sample plan templates from Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy website. Please provide the Centre with the plan at least 3 weeks prior to attending camp. Please also bring medication (ie at least one adrenaline auto injector and/or asthma inhaler) with you to camp.
All children under 18 years of age at risk of food-related anaphylaxis wear a red wristband while at camp as an added precaution to assist staff in managing situations where food allergens may be present.

Our Sport and Recreation Centres have a range of comfortable accommodation options.
Dormitory-style lodges feature bunk beds and shared or communal bathroom facilities while cabins, cottages, units and houses, including catered programs and self-contained options. Bedding configurations vary for each Centre but can include bunk beds, single beds, double beds, triple bunk beds and split king beds. For more information on these options please contact our central reservations team on 13 13 02.
Please consider other guests and keep noise to a minimum between the hours of 10pm and 7am.
We can provide a range of catering options to suit your needs and our menus vary seasonally. We also cater for special diets and allergies. Please ensure you have completed the allergies and special diets section when completing the online registration form.
Many of our program participants suffer from food related allergies that vary from person to person and can be as sensitive as making contact with certain foods that will cause a serious allergic reaction.
To help us promote a safe, nut-free environment, we ask that you:
- Do not bring nuts and products containing nuts to the Centre.
Our Allergen Free Meals Policy requires anyone with an intolerance, allergy or anaphylaxis reaction to a food to wear a red wrist band for easy identification. Their meals are plated separately by our Catering Staff and collected from a designated spot to manage risk.
The catering areas in self-contained kitchens may also be used by people with food related allergies. We seek your assistance and support in managing the risk to all guests.
To help us promote a safe, nut-free environment in our self-contained accommodation, we ask that you:
- Do not bring nuts and products containing nuts to the Centre.
- Please ensure thorough cleaning of pots/pans/crockery/utensils etc
- Please ensure thorough cleaning of surface and food preparation areas
- Do not leave food unattended or in a place where it may be accessed by clients for example; in a fridge or in a common area
- Do not leave any food behind after your stay
- Ensure all rubbish is placed in designated bins
Alcohol and smoking
The Centre is a smoke-free environment however alcohol may be permitted with prior approval from the Office of Sport. Sydney Academy and Jindabyne are licenced venues and are unable to accommodate BYO.
Centre Management reserves the right to ban alcohol or evict guests who are intoxicated or disturbing other guests.
What to pack
Use this handy checklist to help you pack for camp:
- Toiletries including soap
- Sunscreen, sunglasses and hat
- Water bottle
- Insect repellent
- Small backpack
- Swimming costume and rash shirt
- Two towels (pool/beach and bath)
- Two pairs of running shoes (one old pair for water activities)
- Enough clothing for your stay, including 3 layers of warm clothing (winter only OR all-year round at Jindabyne, Borambola, Lake Burrendong and Lake Keepit)
- Sleeping bag or doona and two single flat sheets
If you are attending a snow camp at Jindabyne* or Borambola, please pack:
- Waterproof pants and jacket
- Waterproof gloves
- Beanie and scarf
- Long, thin woollen or ski socks
- At least 3 layers of warm clothing
* Ski clothing can also be hired for an additional cost at our Jindabyne ski hire outlet.
Please note, we do not allow children to bring or use their own snow sports equipment, such as skis or snowboards.
Adults are welcome to use their own ski equipment. As per the terms and conditions, the Office of Sport is not liable for any injuries or loss suffered due to the use of equipment that has not been supplied by the Office of Sport.
Highchairs and cots
Please bring your own highchair and cot if required.
Centre sports equipment is available for use during activity time. You can also bring your own equipment, such as bikes, rollerblades, helmets, tennis and fishing gear.
Washing machines are available for use free of charge in all Centres except Jindabyne and Point Wolstoncroft where there are coin-operated machines. Some Centres also have clothes dryers. Please bring your own laundry powder and clothes pegs.
What not to bring
- Do not bring nuts and products containing nuts to the Centre
- Aerosol cans (i.e. spray-on deodorant or insect repellent)
- Lollies or chewing gum
- Anything valuable (the Office of Sport takes no responsibility for the loss or damage to a client's personal property, including money or other valuable items)
