Organisation Support Program

The Organisation Support Program (OSP) is designed to assist eligible State Sporting Organisations (SSOs), State Sporting Organisations for people with Disability (SSODs) and Peak Bodies to develop their sporting activities at all levels in NSW. It aims to provide flexible financial support to build capacity, invest in governance processes, increase participation (including of underrepresented groups in sport at all levels), create and deliver sporting activities and competitions at all levels in NSW and support Office of Sport and NSW Government priorities.

Important dates

  • Applications open – Monday 16 October 2023
  • Applications close – 2pm, 10 November 2023
  • Approval of funding – 30 days from submission
  • Funding agreements executed – within 2-weeks of approval of funding
  • Delivery must be completed by 30 June 2024

  • All funding must meet the program objectives and is subject to annual performance reporting and assessment
  • Category 4, 5 and 6 organisations must include at least one funded activity relating to female participation.

To be eligible for funding and recognition by the Office of Sport, SSOs and SSODs must meet the eligibility criteria and continue to work towards the Australian Sports Commission’s sports governance principles and appropriately implement their child protection, risk management and member protection policies.

*Note that some “dual” sports are represented by more than one SSO which results in maximum funding for a category being shared between SSOs.

Objectives


The objective of the OSP is to develop the sporting activities at all levels in NSW by assisting SSO/SSODs and Peak Bodies to:

  • Increase the capability of the sector to respond to emerging trends and challenges;
  • Increase the capability of the sector to create fair, safe and inclusive environments for everyone, including children;
  • Increase participation, including of under-represented groups (particularly the participation of women and girls);
  • Build governance capability of the organisation and/or sector; and
  • Support the function of the organisation.

Who is eligible


Currently recognised SSOs and SSODS who are funded under the OSP must:

  • Be properly constituted and compliant with relevant incorporation legislation
  • Be a 'not for profit' incorporated body *
  • Be truly representative of the sport in NSW with jurisdiction on a state-wide basis
  • Be affiliated with a National sporting organisation that is funded and/or recognised by the Australian Sports Commission (unless a unitary model of governance has been adopted)
  • Comply with the world anti-doping code as supported by the Australian Sports Commission
  • Comply with all relevant NSW legislation relating to match-fixing and integrity in sport and the conditions of the National Policy on Match-fixing in Sport as agreed by Australian Governments on 10 June 2010 and any match-fixing or integrity in sport policy adopted by the respective sport’s governing body
  • Be able to demonstrate that they are responsive to and complying with relevant government policies and committed to the development of social justice and gender equity strategies

* Not for profit incorporated body is an independently incorporated constituted organisation which does not distribute profits to shareholders, even though it may be desirable for them to produce surpluses for future working capital or judicious reserves.

Funding categories


Funding categories are based on the capacity of organisations to deliver services.

Minimum amount available under OSP is $20,000 per annum (Category 1B)
