Winter Warrior

Winter Warrior is held August at our very own Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre. The Winter Warrior is two races that features more than 25 obstacles including mud pits, log carries, slip & slide and paddle. Primary school students are to join secondary students separately to take on the challenging course for the first time in the Rising Warrior.

The challenging course will allow students to put their strength, stamina and teamwork to the test.

Event information

Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre’s much‑loved adventure race, The Winter Warrior, was held in August for secondary school students.

This year’s program also introduced an exciting new event, The Rising Warrior, a dedicated adventure race designed specifically for primary school students, offering younger participants the chance to build confidence, teamwork and resilience through the fun outdoor challenge.

• Rising Warrior primary school division:
  • 8km course. 
• Winter Warrior secondary school student division:
  • 15km course.

Registrations for 2027 will open early next year so keep an eye out. Schools can register on the Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation centre page on the Office of Sport website.

Limited accommodation is available at an additional cost.

Who can enter

The event is open to all primary and secondary students in NSW. Participants must form a team of 6 across three divisions – boys, girls and mixed – for the title of Winter Warrior and Rising Warrior.

The cost for each team of 6 in 2026 was $261.00.

The course

The challenging course will test the strength, stamina and teamwork of participants with a variety of obstacles including:

• 10km run, broken throughout the course
• Mud pit
• Downhill mountain biking
• Log carry
• Initiatives
• Slip 'n slide
• Spartan spear toss
• Water crossing
• Long distance paddle

Prizes

The winners of each division will receive a medal, including:

• Boys open
• Girls open
• Mixed open

There are also prizes for the best dressed team.
