In partnership with the Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG), the Office of Sport would like to invite you to a series of free Child Safe workshops from Tuesday 19th August to Thursday 21st August in Wagga Wagga. These interactive workshops are focussed on the needs of community sport and the volunteers who make it happen. Feel free to book into all or specific workshops, depending on your role and Club requirements.

All workshops will be held at the new Jim Elphick Tennis Centre - 50 Morgan St, Wagga Wagga. Light refreshments will be available from 5:30pm so come along and meet some other sport volunteers!

Child Safe Risk Management workshop
6pm - 7:30pm Tuesday 19th August

You will learn about common risks to children in community sport. What are the high-risk situations and how can we be safer? You will also learn about the Child Safe Standards and how they can be applied in your club. By the end of this workshop, you will be able to identify and manage the child safety risks at your club which is a legal requirement under the Child Safe Scheme.

Working with Children Check workshop
6pm – 7:30pm Wednesday 20th August

Adults who work or volunteer in child-related work in NSW must have a Working with Children Check (WWCC). Organisations must verify the WWCC details and keep records of anyone they have in child-related work. In this workshop you will learn how the WWCC is applied in sports clubs and strategies to assist in meeting this legal obligation.

Member Protection Information Officer training
6pm – 8:00pm Thursday 21st August

The Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) is responsible for providing information about a person's rights, responsibilities and options to an individual making a complaint or raising a concern, as well as information support during the process. Clubs with MPIOs are better able to efficiently address concerns and maintain a friendly, welcoming environment. The role is nationally recognised and accredited through Play By The Rules and Sport Integrity Australia. You will need to complete a e-Learning course as a pre-requisite to attend this workshop (approx. 1 hour duration). Find out more at https://www.playbytherules.net.au/mpio.
