Sydney Roosters Centre of Excellence opens

Published: 24 January 2023

The Sydney Roosters have a new home following the official opening of the state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence at Allianz Stadium.

Minister for Sport Alister Henskens said the NSW Government invested $5.7 million toward the project, which will be home to the Roosters’ NRL and NRLW teams and provide grassroots players access to a world-class training hub.

“The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government is proud to support this new facility, which will help boost female participation and support player development, strengthening the Clubs ties with its eastern suburbs and inner-city heartland,” Mr Henskens said.

“The Sydney Roosters are one of league’s foundation clubs and plays a vital role in fostering growth in the game, from the grassroots right through to elite men and women’s rugby league.

“The centre will ensure the legacies of Arthur Beetson, Ron Coote and Jack Gibson live on, inspiring future players, and see the Roosters remain a force in the NRL and NRLW competitions for years to come.”

The Centre of Excellence boasts a large strength and conditioning gym, medical facilities, team theatrette and a club museum and library as well as multipurpose community facilities to support the expansion of the club’s community programs.

Sydney Roosters CEO Joe Kelly said we are delighted to officially open the Nick Politis AM Centre of Excellence, which has been designed with every consideration for elite athlete performance.

“It’s a testament to our Chairman, Nick Politis AM, that we have established our permanent home within the Moore Park precinct which has always been home to the Sydney Roosters,” Mr Kelly said.

“We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have a permanent base within Sydney’s premier ground, Allianz Stadium, and extend our thanks to the NSW Government for their funding contribution which has greatly assisted us to build our facility.”
