Future Champions

FUTURE CHAMPIONS is a four-year strategy launched in December 2019 by the NSW Office of Sport, that aims to equip and empower our foundational and emerging athletes (and their parents, coaches etc.) to fulfill their sporting aspirations and engage and unite our pathways sector and stakeholders to provide them the best support at the right time.

The original strategy informed and aligned with the FTEM NSW Participant and Athlete Framework, comprised of sixteen actions across six strategic drivers (see diagram below).

FUTURE CHAMPIONS positions NSW as a national leader in supporting the next generation of NSW participants and athletes to be FUTURE CHAMPIONS on and off the field.

Future Champions Phse One Action Plan

The Office of Sport has just released the Future Champions Phase One Action Plan.

In light of the COVID-19 global pandemic and subsequent impact on sport participation at all levels, the Future Champions strategy is well placed to support the pathways of NSW sports moving forward. The Future Champions Phase One Action Plan has a deliberate focus on building the foundations of the NSW pathways system through effective and agile leadership, strategy, knowledge sharing, networking and building the evidence-base.

Informed by the best practice principles of the FTEM NSW Participant and Athlete Framework, guidance provided to NSW Sporting Organisations and their network partners will not only cover their Talent strategies, but also importantly their underpinning Foundational strategies and fit of programs and delivery. Innovative and effective approaches for delivering knowledge and connecting pathway stakeholders across NSW will be explored and utilised.
