There are numerous on-line resources which may support Sporting organisations to provide staff and stakeholders with learning and development opportunities to enable them to remain connected with sport, to develop new skills or pursue other interests.

Sport related learning and development

Sport Australia provides portals to online general principles of coaching and general principles of officiating courses and a portal to the excellent Clearinghouse for Sport, which provides high quality information, research and analysis about, sport human performance and physical activity.  You can also sign up for a comprehensive daily sports news service through the Clearinghouse for Sport that you can tailor to topics of specific interest.

The AIS provides high quality information, research and analysis about high performance sport and human performance.  There is no on-line learning as such but there is a wealth of knowledge and information that is relevant to community sport as well as high performance sport

Sport Integrity Australia provides e-Learning courses relevant for all coaches, officials and participants, focusing on anti-doping, match fixing, illicit drugs and ethical decision making

Play by the Rules provides free online training to increase the capacity and capability of administrators, coaches, officials, players, parents and spectators to assist them in preventing and dealing with discrimination, harassment, child safety, inclusion and integrity issues in sport.

The Office of the Children’s Guardian is an independent statutory authority in NSW Government. It promotes and regulates the quality of child safe organisations, services and people.

Institutions offering Online/Distance Sports Science Courses

There are a range of institutions that offer free online courses in sport and other areas of professional development that can be undertaken at home and enable individuals to improve their capacity to contribute to their chosen sport as an administrator, coach, official or volunteer

Podcasts have become an extremely popular means of disseminating educational material and can be accessed by a range of different platforms so android, apple and PC users can all access the material.  There is a virtually endless number of podcasts available and the quality varies considerably. Look for credible reviews and the opinions of experts you trust when evaluating the merits of podcast material.

There are quite a few NSW State Sporting Organisations that provide on-line development opportunities and forums separate to their NSO. The breadth of information and platforms used vary from sport to sport.  Go to specific SSO websites for more information.

Directors, boards and secretaries learning and development

Volunteer Directors, Boards or Committees of Management board secretaries, officers, and committee members of State Sporting Organisations, State Sporting Organisations for people with Disability and local clubs and associations are the lifeblood of the NSW sporting system.  They voluntarily work long hours for the love of their sport and the benefit of members.

The Office of Sport provides a range of support and services to assist State Sporting Organisations, community sport clubs, industry peak bodies and recreation sector organisations through these difficult and challenging times.

There are several resources and tools to help your organisation including:
