About the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023TM
Australia and New Zealand will co-host the ninth FIFA Women's World CupTM from 20 July – 20 August 2023. 32 nations will compete in the Women’s World Cup for the first time. Born as a 12-team tournament in 1991, it was expanded to include 16 countries at USA 1999 and 24 at Canada 2015.
The NSW Government is proud to support the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023TM, with 11 matches to be hosted in Sydney/Gadigal.

FIFA Fan FestivalTM
The FIFA Fan Festival™ is a hub of food, games, music and, of course, football. Capturing the atmosphere, games and spirit of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™, the free festival at Darling Harbour’s iconic Tumbalong Park will be open to punters from 20 July to 20 August.
FIFA Fan Festival™ will show every game on giant screens, as well as hosting big-name music acts, festival street food, an official FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ merch shop and games where you can test your skills.
Stadium Screenings
The NSW Government will open two Sydney stadiums as screening sites to ensure football fans who did not secure tickets to the sold-out FIFA Women's World CupTM Semi-Final can come together to cheer on the Matildas.
Western Sydney Stadium in Parramatta and Sydney Football Stadium in Moore Park will show the match on big screens as Australia takes on England in the history-making clash on Wednesday 16 August at Stadium Australia.
Tickets are not required to enter the stadiums. All spectators are invited to enjoy the match free of charge, with entry permitted until seating capacity is reached.

Sydney/Gadigal will host 11 matches during the tournament, more than any other Host City.
Stadium Australia will host five blockbuster matches, including the Matildas opening match against Republic of Ireland, a Round of 16 match, Quarter-Final, Semi Final, and The Final.
Sydney Football Stadium will host five Group Matches and a Round of 16 Match.

NSW Football Legacy Program
The NSW Football Legacy Program sees a $10 million investment from the NSW Government to support football at all levels as a legacy of NSW hosting matches in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023TM.
Commencing in 2022, the NSW Football Legacy Program is delivered in collaboration with Football Australia, Football NSW, Northern NSW Football and the Office of Sport, with initiatives funded through to 2024.

The biggest-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup™ Trophy Tour has embarked on a global journey ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™ and is coming to NSW from 8-12 June 2023!

Unity Pitch
To promote and celebrate the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023TM coming to Sydney, Sydney Olympic Park will host the Unity Pitch from 19-23 May 2023.
The multi-coloured football pitch represents a patchwork of the tournament brand colours, reflecting the two unique local cultures of Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand and the coming together of the 32 nations participating.
The Unity Pitch will be used by community groups, football clubs and families throughout the week and is free for the public to use at during the times below:
